GRIP Outreach for Youth

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, the FUTURE STEPS Program Director (FSPD) will build a network to prepare and launch GRIP young adults in their FUTURE careers so that they can fulfill their God-given mission.

The FSPD will recruit and build business partner relationships. The FSPD will also identify and match together both business partners and our GRIP young adults for their career advancement through both short-term internships as well as long-term job positions. The FSPD will oversee the coordination of training content and execution for our business partners as well as our young adults.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Recruit and build long-term relationships with business owners, identifying levels of partnership with them and their management teams
  • Leveraging their life-on-life mentor relationship, create a system to assess our young adults and their job readiness
  • Create an ongoing process to thoroughly train and equip both business partners and young adults
  • Collaborate with our mentorship team to create relevant training content for business owners, management, and team to help create an environment for our young adults to succeed
  • Research best practices and curriculum to thoroughly teach soft skills (i.e. time management, goal setting, budgeting, business meeting etiquette, etc.) and promote a growing work ethic among our young adults
  • Regularly check-in on the progress of our young adults and business partners throughout the process to best serve both parties and to ensure the long-term sustainability of these relationship
  • Place young adults in internships and long-term jobs appropriately
  • Pray for the FUTURE STEPS program, business partners, and our young adults regularly
  • Leverage our SLAM and GRIP THE SCHOOL programs to identify young adults
  • Participate weekly in staff prayer meeting, one-on-one meeting with manager, staff team meeting and attend appropriate programs, trainings and development engagements
  • Support GRIP’s overall development advancement via networking and special events

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Commitment to the mission and Christian values of GRIP Outreach for Youth
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of professional experience required, business background preferred
  • Committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ and broken over the current status of youth in Chicago
  • Dependency upon God through prayer is critical
  • High-energy, highly relational personality
  • Well-organized self-starter who has the ability to handle several projects at once
  • Ability to empathize and communicate with people from all walks of life
  • Strong team player with experience working as an effective member in a team environment
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel proficiency required
  • Living within the Chicago city limits is preferred
